Important Info for those who use Cell Phone Cameras...

Greetings, all. I have been feeling 'under the weather' with my winter allergies, hence I have not posted in over a week.
However, one of my good friends, Iris, just emailed me with info that I think you might find interesting, so I thought it was important to share.

It seems that if you post a picture online, taken with cell phone cameras (GPS-enabled cell phones and Smart phones), someone could right-click on your photo and get an exact reading of where you are located -- i.e., your home address... It's called "Geo-Tags."

The news video really is enlightening... And scary....
You might want to consider just using your digital cameras from now on to post photos.
Watch this NY ABC news story HERE.

Best,

  1. I never use my cell phone...like how my digital point and shoot takes photos. Even if someone was geo-tracking my photos, doubt they'd want to come here...summers are sickenly hot, mosquitos will fly away with you, the hurricanes make life here dicey, and we don't have a hill for miles around! Did I mention how hot it gets here?

  2. Holly Molly....I never knew that! I use my camera phone and iPod all the time to tweet etc....Great info for us all to know and be aware of!!!
I'm so sorry to hear about your Winter allergies, they stink! I have them too...I hardly know anyone that as them in the Winter, but aren't they a pain!! I can be in the garden for months and months with flowers , pollen etc...and I don't even sneeze then in the Winter I get really bad allergies. This started last winter in my 40's for the first time and now on and off this Winter. I take Benedryl at night...I think its the dry heat.
Well i hope you are better very soon!!
PS...I love those swirl candles, they are so pretty

  3. I saw this, too. I stick to my camera, but it's tempting to take a quick picture and put it up. Hope you're feeling better.

  5. Hi Gloria, I'm sorry that you haven't been feeling well. Did you guys get a lot of snow? Thanks for this interesting info. My phone takes pics, but I always carry my other two cameras and use those. Take care and God bless ... hope you are close to being healed.

  7. Hi Gloria! I hope you're feeling better soon...allergies are the WORST. Ugh!

Thanks for sharing this info. I knew about geo-tags, I use them on my computer for personal use when looking at photos, but I had no idea it was shared on the internet and anyone could see it! Scary!

  9. HI Gloria,
I hope you're feeling better. Winter is bad enough without having allergies to deal with too! All this technology is crazy. I only take pictures with my phone, after that, I don't know what to do with them!!
